To meet Industry demand and compliment the Business Barometer, a web based diagnostic tool, the Business Action Centre has researched and developed, in concert with well respected psychologists, an additional tool that assesses and measures business leaders’ propensity to embrace change.

It too, is web based, and provides an instant evaluation of the participants’ responses.

BAC is well aware that there are a number of Psychometric tools available, however, none are specifically built or geared towards the assessment of a leader’s willingness (aptitude) to accept and instigate change.

It is well exemplified and documented that the success of strategic change hinges on the right ‘mind set’ of business owners, Chief Executive Officers and Directors.

Just for clarity, a further explanation of Psychometric – it is the branch of psychology that deals with the design, administration, and interpretation of quantitative tests for the measurement of psychological variables such as intelligence, aptitude (concentration of this tool) and personality traits.

It aims to describe aspects of a person’s character that remain stable throughout that person’s lifetime, the individual’s character pattern of behaviour, thoughts and feelings together with how the consumer views himself or herself in relation to the rest of the world.

Where it becomes immensely useful is in the extension of knowledge about a business – moving from the physical and paper based facts about the business to include the business/personal attitudes of the owner or manager.

For example:

A business may be running well on paper, but in reality the owner is tired and wants out of the business. He/she is likely to say the right things but has little energy or willpower to affect change which in turn can frustrate staff.

Or, he/she may appear aloof and distant from their colleagues in the industry which may simply come down to a perceived lack of business experience/confidence on their part.

In each case it would alter the way both business act and react in the marketplace and within the business structure.

The Business Action Centre speaks with thousands of small businesses per annum, assisting with the relaunch of brands, strategic change of direction and complete company restructuring. We often find that the success of our intervention efforts are underpinned by how well business leaders’ adapt to a new and often challenging ‘set of rules’.

The analytical and evaluative integrity of the Business Barometer coupled with this Psychometric tool adds value and creates a better environment for long term successful intervention programs.
